The capital city of Romania is Bucharest. It is also the cultural and industrial center of this country. The elegant architecture of the city became famous with under the name “Little Paris”.

Airport and Airlines:

Bucharest has two airports; the bigger one is Henri Coandă international airport (OTP) also know with the more formal name “Otopeni”. This one is 18 kilometers to the north of Bucharest. The Aurel Vlaicu airport (BBU) – Aeropuerto de Bucarest- Băneasa – is with only 8 kilometers to the city closer. The smaller one is mainly used for charter and budget flights.

Sometimes you can find economic flights with germanwings to the Otopeni Airport.

There is one express bus 783 goes from the airport to downtown Bucharest which runs every 20 minutes.

Parking:

For parking your car in the city center it is recommendable to use one of the parking garage. The traffic in the center is busy since the economic in Bucharest increased.

Public transport:

With the subway Bucharest has a good network of public transport. It has four lines; there are only few stops in the city center.

You also have an extensive network of streetcars and buses. Be advised that you can’t buy tickets on the bus station. You need to buy them in advance at special stands.

Sight seeing:

Apart from the city sightseeing provides Bucharest also Constanta, the ancient city of Tomis, on the Black Sea coast. Known for its distinct architectural style is the Mogosoaia Palace. Another nice place to be is Snagov Monastery, the alleged burial place of Vlad the Impaler. These places are in a distance around 40 kilometers to Bucharest. To see also these places you can hire a care directly from the airport or from the city town. It is always advisable to do this before your trip.
