Muscat Car Hire & Travel Information

Muscat is the capital of the Sultanate of Oman and is the most important and populated city of Oman. Muscat is located between the Arabian Sea and the Western Hajar Mountains.

How to get to Muscat

The airport of Muscat is Muscat International Airport (MCT) also known as Seeb International Airport. The airport is located 37 Km west of Mutrah. Main airline companies like KLM, Lufthansa, Emirates, Etihad Airways, British Airways fly every day from and to Muscat.

Oman has one national bus company called, Oman National Transport Company, within Oman there are daily buses from Muscat to Buraimi, Nizwa and Salalah.

Muscat can be reach by car from the United Arab Emirates, the trip takes about 5 hours crossing the border in Hatta/Al Ain. 

It is recommendable for visitors who are staying longer than a day in Muscat to rent a car, as this is more economical than using taxis and gives you more flexibility. At the Airport there are many international and local car rental agents like, Budget, Dollar, SIXT, Avis etc. In Oman an international driving permit is required besides your home driving license.
